Padel is Life helps players create and join padel competitions, manage teams, arrange challenges and record results. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we use it, who we may share it with and the choices available to you.

1. Who is responsible for your information?

Padel is Life is operated by Ross Cowe, who is the data controller for the personal information described in this policy.

2. Information we collect

Depending on how you use Padel is Life, we may collect or process:

  • account information such as your name, email address, profile image and account identifiers;
  • a telephone number or other contact details where you choose to provide them for league, team or match communications;
  • league and team information, including memberships, roles, invitations and competition participation;
  • challenge, fixture, match and result information, including standings and rating history;
  • information you submit to organisers, teammates or opponents through features provided by the service;
  • authentication, session, security and technical information needed to operate and protect the service; and
  • communications with us, including support requests and account administration messages.

3. Google sign-in data

If you choose Continue with Google, Google provides Padel is Life with basic account information used to authenticate you and create or update your player profile. This may include your Google account name, email address, profile image and a unique Google account identifier.

Padel is Life does not use Google sign-in to access your Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar, contacts or other Google account content.

Google account information is used only for authentication, account security and the Padel is Life profile features described in this policy.

4. How we use your information

We use personal information to:

  • create, authenticate and secure your account;
  • display and manage your player profile;
  • operate leagues, ladders, Box leagues, teams, challenges, matches, results, standings and ratings;
  • process invitations and help players and organisers coordinate competition activity;
  • provide customer support, investigate problems and protect the service from misuse;
  • maintain accurate competition records and service history; and
  • send service and transactional communications as described below.

5. Service and transactional communications

We may use the contact details you provide, including your email address and telephone number, to send messages necessary for the operation of Padel is Life. These messages may be sent by email, SMS or WhatsApp.

They may include, for example:

  • team and league invitations;
  • challenge notifications, responses and reminders;
  • match arrangements and important competition updates;
  • result submission, confirmation or dispute notifications;
  • account, authentication and security notices; and
  • important administrative or service updates.

These are service communications intended to keep your account, teams and competitions working. We do not treat them as promotional marketing. If we introduce optional marketing communications in future, we will handle those separately and provide any consent or opt-out choices required by law.

6. Our lawful bases

Under UK data protection law, we rely on one or more of the following lawful bases depending on the activity:

  • Contract: where processing is necessary to provide the Padel is Life service you request, including account access and competition features.
  • Legitimate interests: where reasonably necessary to operate, administer, secure and improve the service, maintain competition integrity and provide appropriate service communications, provided those interests are not overridden by your rights.
  • Legal obligation: where we need to process information to comply with applicable law.
  • Consent: where we specifically ask for consent for an optional activity. You can withdraw consent at any time.

7. Who we share information with

We may share or make personal information available to:

  • other players and league organisers where this is necessary for team, league, challenge and match functionality;
  • technology providers that host, authenticate, secure or support Padel is Life, including services such as Supabase, Vercel and Google;
  • email, SMS, WhatsApp or other communications providers when those channels are used to deliver service messages;
  • professional advisers, regulators or authorities where required by law or reasonably necessary to protect legal rights or service security.

We do not sell your personal information. Service providers are used only where needed to deliver or protect the service and are expected to handle information appropriately.

8. International processing

Some service providers may process information in countries outside the UK. Where personal information is transferred internationally, we take appropriate steps to use recognised safeguards or another lawful transfer mechanism where required.

9. How long we keep information

We keep account information while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards where needed for security, support, legal or administrative purposes. League, team and match records may be retained for longer where necessary to preserve competition history, rankings, results and the integrity of records involving other players.

We may also retain limited records where required to resolve disputes, prevent abuse, comply with legal obligations or establish, exercise or defend legal claims. When information is no longer needed, we will delete or anonymise it where reasonably practicable.

10. Cookies and session data

Padel is Life uses cookies or similar browser storage that are necessary for authentication, session management, security and core service operation. If we introduce non-essential analytics, advertising or similar technologies that require a choice under applicable law, we will provide the appropriate information and controls.

11. Your data protection rights

Depending on the circumstances and applicable law, you may have rights to:

  • ask for a copy of personal information we hold about you;
  • correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
  • ask us to delete information;
  • ask us to restrict certain processing;
  • object to processing based on legitimate interests;
  • receive certain information in a portable format; and
  • withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

To exercise a right, email support@padelis.life. Some rights are subject to legal exceptions, and we may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

Your right to object

Where we rely on legitimate interests, you have the right to object to that processing in certain circumstances. Contact us at the address above and explain what processing you object to.

12. Complaints

We would like the opportunity to resolve any privacy concern directly. You can contact us at support@padelis.life. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). More information is available at ico.org.uk.

13. Account deletion and Google access

You can ask us to close your Padel is Life account by contacting support@padelis.life. If you signed in with Google, you can also manage or revoke Padel is Life's Google account access through your Google account settings. Revoking Google access does not automatically remove competition records that need to be retained for the reasons explained above.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the service, our data practices or legal requirements change. The latest version will be published on this page with an updated date. If a change materially affects how we use personal information, we will take reasonable steps to bring it to users' attention.
